Many niche blogs are specifically started to provide information, but also to make money for the owner. The trick is to keep them from becoming sales pitches for products or posts filled with keyword rich words that become spam in content.

Educational blogs have grown in popularity as more instructors have come to understand the power of a blog for teaching. Using blogs are natural for most teachers as they love to write and this is a very easy way for any student to access everything from lesson plans to homework.

3. Business Blogs

More and more businesses are using blogs as a way to keep everyone updated about what is going on in their business. This is a great way to keep employees up to date about what is going on in the company and how the company is doing. Businesses can make it interactive by allowing employees to post and add comments that are relative to what they do for the company.

Business blogs are a popular way to offer specials to customers also and they are very easy to keep up to date. Compare that to newspaper or yellow page advertising which takes time to set up and cannot be updated with the click of a mouse.

4. Opinionated/Political Blogs

These types of blogs allow people who have an opinion on things to voice it. You are starting to see more and more blogs that are political in nature. Politicians all have their own blogs as they understand the power of using it to get out their message to the public.

These are four different ways a blog theme can be used to accomplish the message the blogger is trying to get online. No matter why you decide to get started, your theme is important and sticking to it is part of developing a loyal base of readers for it.
