South of Kipahulu the road gets a bit bumpy, but it is much faster returning to Maui condos this way than going back the long way through Hana since there are far fewer hairpin turns and bridges. If you want to avoid the long drive yourself, there are guided tours available from the resort areas of Kapalua,,Honokowai, Kaanapali, Makena, and Wailea/Kihei which leave around 7 am and return around 6 pm.
